Sparse Files Deprecated

Starting in A2 build 6.1, the Alike A2 will no longer offer sparse file format for new ADS and ODS configurations.

These files, while convenient, have been shown to have scalaiblity limitation and other issues. In the interest of providing the fastest and most reliable backups, this format has thus been deprecated.

Existing customers who have deployed the A2 using sparse files for either their ADS or ODS configuration are asked to schedule an outage to migrate their installation to "raw" format by starting over with a new, blank ADS.
